Services for Bessie Mae Harris were held on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at 11:00a.m. at Robinson Family Mortuary, 1815 Military Hwy, Pineville, LA. Rev. Allen Hall officiated. Interment was held in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Mrs. Harris, 93, of Alexandria, LA, passed away on October 30, 2020, at The Summit Retirement Center, Alexandria, LA.


Bessie was born February 1, 1927, in Lecompte, LA to the late Sylvia Falker and Noah Harris, Sr. Bessie moved to New Orleans at a young age to live with her Aunt and Uncle. While there, she was baptized and attended church. She met her husband, Abraham Brown in New Orleans and to that union four children were born. Bessie loved to travel, meet people, teach the Bible and she was a true Artist. She worked as a Nursing Assistant until she retired. After retiring, she moved back to Louisiana to be close to relatives.


Preceding her in passing, her late husband, Abraham Brown, five sisters: Mattel Stevenson, Lula Williams, Betty Harris, Lillie Winnfield and Helen Harris, and one brother Noah Harris, Jr.


Cherishing her memories are one daughter, Connie Brown, three sons: Abraham and Michael, New York, and Donald Brown of Seattle, Washington, one sister-in-law, Mattie Harris, Lecompte, LA, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
