Born on June 26, 1944 to Edna and Simon Gosey , in Many Louisiana, Charles lived a life dedicated to service, integrity, and compassion. He bravely served his country in the Vietnam War as Marine Corps Reserve Forces, Class III, Kansas City, MO.  He was a Private (E1), for 4 years starting on May 29, 1967, carrying with him a deep sense of duty and honor. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnamese Campaign Medal w/device, and the Vietnamese Service Medal (twice).

As a District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Officer, from May 1970 to May 1990 Charles continued his lifelong commitment to protecting and uplifting others. For 20 years, he upheld integrity, fairness, and compassion, he exemplifies service and dedication, making a lasting impact on the communities he serves.

In 2001, Charles left behind the life he’s built in the DMV—not out of necessity, but out of love. He was the kind of man who honored his responsibilities, not because anyone expected it of him, but because it was simply who he was. A man of quiet strength, of steady hands that had held his children through their hardest days and would now hold his mother through hers. He didn’t see it as a burden—he saw it as a privilege, a final act of gratitude for the woman who had once carried him.

Charles remained a tireless advocate for veterans, ensuring that those who served received the support and respect they deserved. Following his military and police service, he pursued higher education and became a proud college graduate at the age of 68 majoring in Forensic Science. His passion for helping others extended to his community, where he volunteered his time, mentored the younger generation, and made a lasting impact on countless lives.

Beyond his dedication to service, Charles found peace and joy in the simple pleasures of life especially fishing. He loved nothing more than spending time by the water, rod in hand, embracing the quiet beauty of nature. Whether alone in reflection or sharing stories with family and friends, he took every opportunity to fish, a pastime that brought him happiness and serenity.

Above all, Charles was a devoted family man. He cherished his children and grandchildren, always providing love, wisdom, and encouragement. His siblings and friends knew him as a pillar of strength, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a kind word.

Charles’s legacy will live on through the many lives he touched. His strength, compassion, and unwavering dedication to others will never be forgotten. He is survived by his loving children, grandchildren, siblings, and a host of family and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

Rest in Heaven, Charles. May the waters always be calm, the fish always bite, and your spirit forever guide those who love you.
