Cornelius L. White, Sr.


Services for Cornelius L. White, Sr. will be at 11:00a.m. on Monday, December 28, 2020 at Robinson Family Mortuary, 1815 Military Hwy, Pineville, LA.


Interment will be in Alexandria Memorial Gardens, Woodworth, LA.


Mr. White, 92, of Alexandria, LA, passed away on December 13, 2020 at Rapides Regional Medical Center, Alexandria, LA.


Cornelius was born on August 16, 1928 in New Zion, KY. After graduating high school, he received his first educational degree. He attained his Embalming degree in Cincinnati, OH.


He joined the United States Air Force and became a jet engine mechanic. He was a Korean War veteran. He attended Southern University majoring in Biology. He married Johnetta Robinson and they had one son: Cornelius Lawson White, Jr. He started teaching in Marksville, LA, then moved to Jones Street Junior High and taught biology. Cornelius then became the first African American Assistant Principal at Brame Junior High, where he retired from the Rapides Parish School System. However, he never retired as a Funeral Director.


Mr. White was honored by Mayor Jacques Roy for is Civil and Education Services to the community along with Rapides Parish Police Jury and ABC/KLAX - Making a Difference. He was honored for 50 years of service in the Funeral Industry by the Kentucky Funeral Directors Association. He was a longtime member of Newman United Methodist Church, Southern University Alumni and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.


He worked with the Volunteers of America, Alexandria-Kiwanis Int., and other Civil Organizations to make a difference in the community. He will be loved and missed by all who knew him. Cornelius knew Christ - the most important Man and God of all.


Mr. White is preceded in death by parents: Willis and Gonzella White and wife: Johnetta White.


Cornelius leaves to cherish his memories - son: Cornelius L. White, Jr. and a host of friends and former students.
