Services for Doretha Alberta Jones will be at 10:00am on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at New Scott Olly Baptist Church, 2627 Willow Glen River road, Alexandria, LA. Bishop Lynell Smith, Pastor with Rev. Charles Anderson officiating. Interment will be in Alexandria National Cemetery on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at 12:00p.m.
Mrs. Jones, 76, of Alexandria, LA, passed away on August 20, 2021 at Rapides Regional Medical Center.
Doretha was born on May 16, 1945 to Robert and Mary Johnson in Alexandria, LA. She graduated from Peabody High School, Class of 1962. Doretha worked at the Greyhound Bus Station until retiring.
She accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age by Rev. Montgomery at Pleasant Green Baptist Church. Doretha was united in Holy Matrimony to Mack Arthur Jones in 1964, to this union one daughter was born Latina Jones.
She was preceded in death by her parents:Robert and Mary Johnson. Her husband, Mack Arthur Jones and her sisters: JoAnna Johnson, Willie Mae Peterson, and Gladys O’Quinn and brother Harry Johnson.
Doretha’s memories will be cherished by her loving daughter, Latina Johnson, godson, Demar Dotson, one sister, Marie O’Quinn and four brothers: Freddie L. Johnson, Robert Johnson, Eddie Howard, and Bryant Jones. Also by her five grandchildren: Willie Butler, Devin Jones, Katrina Butler, Jalyn Robinson, and Jessica Robinson, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
