Viewing Services for Earnest Thomas, Sr. will be at 10:00a.m. on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Trinity United Baptist Church, 1253 Kateland Road, Colfax, LA. Graveside services will begin at 11:00 a.m. at Raven Camp Cemetery, Colfax, LA. Pastor Tademy will be officiating.
On Friday, February 5, 2021, at 2:00 a.m., brother Earnest Thomas Sr. finished his 83rd journey on this earth at St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, LA where he went to accept his place with our Heavenly Father.
Brother Earnest Thomas Sr. was born on January 31, 1938 to the late Tom Thomas and Mary-Isabella “Ezelle” LaCour-Glenn. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, wife (Hereace Johnson-Thomas), son (Donald Thomas), and sister (Victoria Smith).
Earnest professed his faith to Jesus Christ at an early age. He later joined the New Prospect Baptist Church which was renamed to the Trinity United Baptist Church, where he was a deacon. He was a member of the brotherhood choir and attended Sunday School regularly. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was an avid farmer for decades.
On August 24, 1957, he was united in holy matrimony to the late Hereace Johnson-Thomas, and to this union, eight children were born.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories: children, Earnest Thomas Jr. (Wendy) of Marietta, Georgia, Evelyn Jones (Rev. Dave) of Colfax, Louisiana, Barbara Thomas of Colfax, Louisiana, Bobby Thomas (Tracy) of Riverdale, Georgia, Ronnie Thomas of Colfax, Louisiana, Sandra Ross of Boyce, Louisiana, and Larry Thomas of Gainesville, Georgia; eight grandchildren: Christopher, Ericka, Britteny, Jasmine, Chasity, Darnell, Bobby, and Mea; surviving siblings: three brothers and six sisters; one God child: Timothy Ricks; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
