A mass of Christian burial will be held for Elizabeth Stevenson will be at 11 AM on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at St. Juliana Catholic Church, 900 Daspit St. Alexandria LA, with Father Peter Faulk officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 AM on Saturday August 15 until time of service.


Burial will be at Little Zion Baptist Church Cottonport, LA under the direction of Robinson Family Mortuary

Elizabeth Crockett Stevenson also known as “Bessie” or “Liz” to many…passed away at 9 AM on August 7, 2026, at Cabrini Hospital after a difficult battle with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer. She was a member of St. Juliana Catholic Church, where her three sons received the blessed Sacraments of Baptism, First Holy Communion and Confirmation.


Elizabeth was born January 29, 1946, to the late Johnny & Rosa Lee Hayes Crockett in Cottonport LA. She graduated from George Washington Carver High School of Bunkie in 1966. She continued her education at Avoyelles Parish Trade School to study Business. Elizabeth then went on to work as a seamstress at Central State Hospital, where she retired after numerous years of service. She also opened her own business named Liz’s Upholstery where she crafted beautiful creations loved by many!

She is proceeded in death by her parents - Rosa Lee Hayes Crockett and Johnny Crockett; her husband - James Jacob Stevenson, Sr; 3 sisters – Geraldine Crockett (Cottonport, LA), Virginia Criswell (Kansas City, MI), Bertha Hayes (Kansas City, MI); 2 brothers - Albert Hayes (Kansas City, KS), Roy Crockett (Cottonport, LA).

She is survived by 3 sons - Eric Stevenson (Clauretta), Kendrick Stevenson (Carbia) and James Stevenson, Jr; 5 grandchildren - Jatorrious (Tykeeshia), Jasmine (Bailey), Jacob, Trenton and Ava; and 1 great - grandson - Jatorrious Jr; 2 sisters - Laura Irving and Pearl Burns (Butch); and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and family friends.
