Gerald Davis Ford

Services for Gerald Davis Ford will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Starlight Baptist Church Marksville, LA. Interment will be held in Starlight Baptist Church Cemetery. Gerald Davis Ford, 67, was born to the late Anatole and Laura Ford on February 27, 1953 in Marksville LA. He was the ninth child born to this union of 15. Gerald Davis excepted Christ and was baptized at an early age under the pastoral leadership of the late Reverend Clifford Jones Pastor of Starlight Baptist Church. Gerald often confessed his love for the Lord Jesus Christ and his family. Gerald had a love for life. He enjoyed being a mentor to young children. He was the coach and volunteer with several Little League baseball teams around the Fountain Valley, CA area. He enjoyed attending the horse races and sporting events. Gerald was a talker, he enjoyed raising the temperature in the room with his views and once he got the reactions, he wanted he would burst into laughter. He was kind and sweet soul. Gerald receive the City of Fountain Valley, CA proclamation in 2009 for his outstanding professionalism, work ethic, knowledge, and dedication to his profession. Gerald received an additional award from the city for his work on a graffiti abatement program. The city also recognized Gerald for his honesty and service when he found and returned a purse to its rightful owner. Throughout his 22 years of service with Fountain Valley, he was well regarded and respected by his colleagues and peers receiving several peer awards for his outstanding leadership and team member. Gerald retired from Fountain Valley in 2009 and relocated to Las Vegas, the city in which he transitioned to the Lord our Savior. Gerald was preceded in death by his father and Anatole Ford, Sr., his mother Laura Ford, his brothers Ralph Ford and Louis Ford, and sister Audrine Ford Echols. Those who are left to remain to cherish his memories are his brothers: Anatole Ford, Jr.(Vicky), Archie Ford(Bethany), Reverend Franklin Ford (Eleanor) and Andre Ford (Beverly), his sisters: Edolia Signater, Dashna Byrd, Juanita Harris, Co9retha Bo9nton (Reginald), Ethel Jackson (Rev, Roger Jackson), Loretta Howard (Michael) and Louise Moss, brother-in-law: Luther Echols, sister-in-law: Freda Ford, niece: Gwen Ford, who aided and assisted her uncle in his illness, his close friend of 25 years: Glenn Murphy, who often referred to Gerald as JD and his buddy, along with 36 nieces and nephews great nieces and great nephews and family and friends. Visitation will begin at 9 AM at the church.
