The Life and Legacy of James D. Young


Mr. James David Young was known to most as ‘JD, daddy, and Paw-paw’. He was born on June 19, 1939 in Pineville, LA. His soul departed this early life on July 22, 2020, he was 81. He is survived by his wife of 55 years: Gloria Dean Briggs and five children.


He attended Kelso Peabody High School, Alexandria, LA. He worked and retired in 1992 from Montgomery Ward, Alexandria, LA. He began a second career at Skip Converse INC, Pineville, LA, he retired December 2019.


He was preceded in death by his parents Eziel and Helen Read Young; three brothers, Alfred Young, Scott Blade, and Clyde Blade; one sister, Johnice Blade Chenevert.

He survived by three sisters, Louise Peterson, Lillie Blade, and Ruthie Mae Patton; four brothers, Richard Blade, James Blade, Rodney Blade, and Willie Blade.


He also leaves to cherish his loving memory a host of nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.

Services will be held at Robinson Family Mortuary, 1815 Military Hwy, Pineville, LA at 2:00p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2020. Interment will follow immediately at Antioch COGIC Cemetery, 243 Nora Street, Pineville, LA.
