Graveside services for Jessie B. Ferrell, III will be held on Friday, October 1, 2026, at the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Leesville, LA.

Jessie B. Ferrell, III, 50, affectionately known as "Lil Peanut," was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on October 22, 1975, and passed peacefully into eternal rest under the loving care of his family at home in Pineville, Louisiana on Friday, September 25, 2026. Jessie had a personal relationship with Christ and was devoted to his faith throughout his life. He served as an usher at both Mount Calm Baptist Church and Good Hope Baptist Church, welcoming congregants with warmth and sincere kindness. Jessie’s dedication to his church families was evident in his willingness to help wherever needed.

Jessie lived a full and vibrant life, marked by a love for the outdoors, friendly competition, and rhythm. He found joy riding four-wheelers, gathering with loved ones over a game of dominoes, and in his younger years, keeping time as a snare drummer. A proud graduate of Pineville High School's Class of 1994, Jessie also spent his formative years on the basketball court, representing his alma mater with heart and determination.

In 1999, answering a call to serve something greater than himself, Jessie enlisted in the United States Army. Specialist Ferrell proudly served his country at Camp Casey, South Korea; Fort Carson, Colorado; with a foreign service deployment to Afghanistan; and ultimately fulfilling final service obligation at Camp Beauregard, Louisiana - all after graduating Basic Training at Fort Steward, Georgia (home of the 3rd Infantry Division “Dogface Soldier”).

He served with distinction as an Armament Repairer, later trained as a Tank Turret Mechanic, until his honorable separation from duty in 2003. Jessie's dedication and service were recognized through numerous honors, including the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Army Lapel Button — a testament to a soldier who served his country with pride and distinction.

Jessie carried the discipline and strength of his military service into every part of his life. He was a man of strong personality and humble, loving spirit — tenacious, hardworking, and unwilling to quit no matter the challenge before him. Widely respected as a true jack-of-all-trades, his knowledge and skill spanned mechanical work, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing, and he was always ready to lend his hands and his talents to those in need. Above all, Jessie loved deeply and fiercely, and that love will be remembered by everyone whose life he touched.

Jessie was preceded in death by his father, Jessie B. Ferrell, Jr.; paternal grandparents, Jessie B. Ferrell, Sr. and Erma Lee Ferrell; uncle, Larry Ferrell; maternal grandparents, Clent and Virginia Johnson; aunt, Shirley White; and cousin, Courtney White Ware.

Left to cherish his memory are his three children, Yasmyn Weldon, Kaitlynn Price, and Tamarjay Ferrell; four grandchildren, Kyng Carr, Kylahni Carr, Be'Leigh Harrison, and Bre'Leigh Harrison; mother, Sandra Johnson Hampton (Darrell); sister, Shaundrae' Sanders (Antonius Sanders, Sr.); one nephew, Antonious Sanders, Jr.; two nieces, Shaeli Sanders and A'Naiyah Sanders; great niece Amoura Sanders; paternal aunts, Martha Ferrell and Mary Reliford; paternal uncles, Danny Ferrell and Charles Ferrell; maternal aunts, Jimmie Johnson and Marilyn Walker; maternal uncle, Martin Johnson (Karen); and a host of other loving family and friends.

Jessie's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him — a beloved son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and a soldier who served his country with honor.
