Services for John M. Houston will be at 1:00p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Robinson Family Mortuary, 1815 Military Hwy, Pineville, LA.

John Marvin Houston was born to Mr. & Mrs. Johnnie & Mary Lee Culbert Houston on October 4, 1960.

He was a graduate of Peabody High School with the class of 1978, being a Band Member/Drums.


John was known as a “John of All Trades”, unofficially self-employed “3 J’s” being talented with his hands as a crafter, repairman, and a “shady” tree mechanic. Also, he was employed with Houston and Sons, City of Alexandria, Sam’s Wholesale, Lowe’s, and a Truck Driver. He was known by his family and friends as a Master BBQer.


John was baptized at the Greater St. Lawrence Baptist Church of Alexandria, LA, later moving his membership to the First Bethlehem Baptist Church of Alexandria, LA, and lastly to the Mount Triumph Missionary Baptist Church of Boyce, LA. He married to Jeanette Henry. To this union two daughters were born. He later married to Felicia Hynson Houston. To this union, two (2) sons were born.


He departed this life on Thursday - May 14, 2020, leaving to cherish his memories – two (2) daughters - Domonique Houston Johnson (John) and Brittney Houston, both of Houston, TX; three (3) sons - Ja’Vante’ Houston and John Michael Houston, both of Alexandria, LA and Damien Williams (RaShonda) of Houston, TX; one brother, Michael Houston (Paulette) of Keithville, LA; ten (10) grandchildren – Trysten, Tay’Vion, Jamyrieh, Jasmine, Jamarkus, Braylen, Bayleigh, Destiny, Damien II, and Sky, all of Houston, TX and one (1) godson, Javarious.
