Services for Lucy Ann Woods will be at 1:00p.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 1807 Community Lane, Alexandria, LA. Rev. Joe S. Green will be officiating.
Mrs. Woods, 68, of Alexandria, LA, passed away on January 10, 2020. Lucy Ann Woods was born on September 20, 2915 in Summit, Mississippi to the union of the late Lee Edward and Mamie Woods. Lucy graduated from Higgins High School in 1969. She found her love of music at a young age and began playing the piano when she was 8 years old. She as a member of Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Summit, MS. She briefly attended Prentice Junior college in Mississippi before moving to Huston, TX where she graduated from Southwestern Business University in 1971. She made her permanent residence in Alexandria, LA in 1986 and was a dedicated employee of the Alexandria VAMC for over 30 years. She was a member of True Vine Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Solomon Shorter, Sr., since 1996. In her devotion to the music ministry, she served as the church pianist until her passing. She remained dedicated to working and spreading her love of God through music until she was called home.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Lee Edward Woods and Mamie Lou Seals, one sister: Johnie M. Varnado, two brothers, David Barney (Baby Dave) and Francis E. Woods, and one son in childbirth. She leaves to cherish and carry on her memory: two children, Adrian C. (Rondreka) Woods of Alexandria, LA and Korey E. Woods of Monroe, LA, one brother: Ivy L. Woods (Helen) of McComb, MS, 3 grandchildren, Christopher, Braylen, and Harmonie of Alexandria, LA, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will begin at 11:00a.m. at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.
