Luther J. Jones

Services Luther Jeremiah Jones will be at 10:30am on Friday, August 20, 2021, at Robinson Family Mortuary, 1815 Military Hwy, Pineville, LA. Rev. Avery Hamilton will be officiating. Interment will be in Central LA Veterans Cemetery, Leesville, LA.

Luther Jeremiah Jones, 68, of Mamou, LA, beloved father and grandfather passed away on August 11, 2021, at Regency House in Alexandria, LA.

Luther was born to the late Eddie, Sr. and Annie Batiste Jones on September 24, 1952.

He accepted Christ at an early age, being baptized under Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Mansura, LA. He later became a member of Baptist Faith Mission Church in Marksville, LA under Rev. Earl Alexander, Sr. Luther attended: Cardinal Cushing Elementary, Mary McLeod Bethune High School and Mansura High School. He was united in holy matrimony to his late wife: Debra A. Courtney Jones. He is preceded in death by his late wife: Debra Courtney Jones and one daughter Jennifer Jones. Also, preceded in death by his parents: Eddie Sr., Annie Batiste Jones, brothers: Joseph Jones, and Eddie Jones, Jr., sisters: Marie Dupas, Mary Day, Gloria Williams, Josephine Freeman, nephew: Victor Jones, Niece: Zonola Sampson Brown and maternal grandfather: Martin Gene Batiste and grandmother: Eunice Oliver Batiste.

He is survived by his siblings Cecilia Ford, Carrie Dupas, Eunice Hill, Lena Jones, Peter Jones Chicago, II, Luke Jones, and David Jones. He later joined the Army National Guard 1020th Engineer Company 527th Engineer Battalion in Marksville, LA as a carpentry and masonry sergeant. While actively on duty with National Guard he was later deployed to Operation Desert Storm (The Guld War) in Kuwait, Iraq to fight in combat to protect his country. He also traveled many other countries to complete his mission. He served his country 16 years before he retired from active duty. Luther later worked for Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Department as a Prison Officer. He leaves to cherish his memory children, Christine Jones Health (Ronald), Stacy Kelly (Christian), Juanita Jones Jacobs (Albert), Richard Boyer, Shemiah Jones. He also leaves to cherish his memory: 11 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
