Services for Marilyn Rae Bradford Robinson will be held at 10:30a.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Good Hope Baptist Church, 114 C.L. Bradford Street, Pineville, LA. Rev. Joseph Lewis – Host Pastor. Bishop Darrell O. Robinson will be officiating. Interment will be in Alexandria Memorial Gardens, 8855 Hwy 165 South, Woodworth, LA
Marilyn Rae Bradford Robinson, 88, of Pineville, LA, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Naomi Heights Nursing Care Center.
Marilyn was born July 24, 1932 in Pineville, LA, to the proud parents of Charles Lawrence and Florence Bradford. She was the 11th of 13 children born to their union and grew up in a sprit filled loving home.
Marilyn R. Bradford Robinson is a graduate of St. James High School. She also attended Leland College and Grambling State University.
Being a very civic minded person, Mrs. Robinson was a charter member of The Help Planners Civic and Political Association and was instrumental in getting the late Attorney Louis Berry to serve as attorney for the Association. She was one of the first five Afro-American sales-clerks hired by Sears in Alexandria, LA during the Integration Movement in Rapides Parish and served as secretary of the Concerned Parent’s Club during the Integration Movement. The club was organized to encourage Afro-American High School dropouts to go back to school. Before retiring, Mrs. Robinson was employed by the Alexandria/Pineville Y.W.C.A. She held the position of Branch Director.
Mrs. Robinson was a columnist for the Alexandria News Weekly – “The Bird’s Eye View Column”.
Before becoming ill, Marilyn was a very active member and pianist for Advancing Star #169, Order of the Eastern Star; Vathune Chapter #83, Rose Bud Court #11, Heroines of Jericho; Mary G.M. White Court #2 of the Amaranth, and the United Daughters of Isaac and Rebecca.
Marilyn Rae Bradford Robinson was preceded in death by her parents: Charles Lawrence and Florence Bradford; 5 brothers: Edward, Edgar, Charles, Shelby, Emanuel & Reginald; 5 sisters: Eloise, Maggie, Ida, Jerelean & Myrtle; 1 god child: Christopher Lee; and her loving and devoted husband of 55 years and father of her children, Huey Peris (P) Robinson.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories to her three children: Anthony Sr. (Wanda) Robinson of Marshal, TX, Bishop Darrell O. Robinson (Prophetess Marian Robinson) of Jonesboro, GA, and Janet L. Robinson Carter (Darrell) of Pineville, LA; 10 grandchildren – Desiree, Ta’quan, Jeremy, Jayme, Kimberly, Jovan, Andre, Anthony, Jr. (Beth), Aaron & Alwyn, 1 godchild-Vanessa, 14 great grandchildren, 1 sister: Betty Teasley (Jack) of Pineville, LA, 1 sister-in-law: Rose Mary Bradford of Boyce, LA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Mom (Monie) you will be greatly missed but your precious memories and legacy will be implanted in our hearts and lives forever more.
