Marilyn Sue Veal, age 69, a resident of Alexandria, LA, passed away on September 10, 2025, at St. Frances Cabrini Hospital.

Marilyn was a covenant member of New Hope Missionary Batist Church.  She was a woman of great strength, resilience, and dignity.  She believed in doing what needed to be done – not for praise, but for love.  Her life was a testament to hard work, self-sacrifice, and unwavering commitment for her family.  She raised her children with tough love, always guiding with a firm hand and a strong heart.  Marilyn worked tirelessly to provide for her family, never asking for much in return.  Whether she was working long hours, budgeting carefully, or finding creative ways to stretch what little they had.  She always made sure her family had what they needed.  Her love was always spoken and shown day in and day out in everything she did.  Marilyn, affectionately known as “MawMaw and MawMaw Sue” from her grandchildren found joy in the simple things; a quiet morning with a cup of coffee, watching movies with children and grandchildren, and enjoying family time with loved ones.

Cherishing her memory are her partner of 41 years, Jimmy Reed; five children, Antonio Veal (LaShonda), SaTrina Veal (Michael), Randy Veal (Krystal), Russell Veal and Ania Veal; her living siblings who affectionately caller her “Buddy”, Paul and Rodney Veal; as well as her 20 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Rest easy Momma. Your work here is done and we are better for having been loved by you.
