MR. ROSWELL “ROOSEVELT” BRADLEY SR.

On Sunday, June 3, 2018, the Lord called Mr. Roswell “Roosevelt” Bradley Sr. home to be at peace.

Roosevelt was born on Sunday, March 23, 1952 to Rosie Bradley Champion in Clarence, Louisiana; from his birth they shared an inseparable bond.

Roosevelt confessed Christ as his Lord and personal Savior at an early age and joined St. Joseph Baptist Church in Grand Ecore, Louisiana under the leadership of the (late) Pastor Johnny Pye. He served diligently as Deacon for many years at St. Joseph Baptist Church. Upon finishing his schooling in Clarence, Louisiana, he briefly resided in Dallas, Texas but, later returned to Natchitoches where he was employed and then retired from the City of Natchitoches Street Department after 25+ years of faithful service. He united in holy matrimony in 1974 to Janie “Janice” Scott-Powell; to this union 6 children were born – one infant son, Shonquedrick Bradley who preceded Roosevelt in death. He was also preceded in death by his mother, and his brother, Thurman Bradley.

Throughout his life, Roosevelt showed great devotion to his family, church, community, work and his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys. He was a man of many talents, in his spare time, he was an auto mechanic, heavy equipment operator, lawncare tech, concrete finisher, roofer, and handyman. Roosevelt was full of life, loved to tell compelling stories and had a caring, fun-loving, adventurous spirit.

During his retirement years, Roosevelt was under the watch care of Pastor Jeffrey Marshall & the Love Fellowship Church while he resided in Shreveport, Louisiana, but again returned home to Natchitoches when his health began to fail.

His memory is cherished by his wife of 44 years, Janice; their five (5) children, Etrica Wells (Henry) of Natchitoches, Tonya Bradley-Green (Issac) of Shreveport, LA, Twanya Braden (Kerry) of Arlington, Texas, Roswell “Brad” Bradley Jr. (Donna) of Cedar Hill, Texas, and Kenya Bradley (Ronald) of Natchitoches; Eleven (11) grandchildren, Denisha Shepperd, Leondre Bradley, Johnathan Bradley, Chelsea Bradley, Samantha Bradley, Makayla Braden, Kiera Braden, Kaleb Braden, Khloe Braden, Brooklyn Pier, and Kerry I. Braden; one (1) great-grandson, Ra’Shod Bradley; six (6) siblings, Wille Fred Egans, John Bradley (Mildred), Carrie Anthony, Huey Johnson

(Vivian), David Bradley, and Nannie Gafford; six (6) sister-in-law’s, Loretta Bradley, Rosalyn Lock, Carolyn Davis, Margie Braggs, Cheryl Gray, and Glenda Frazier (James); one (1) brother-in-law, Elder Eddie Ray White (Enid); four (4) nieces and one (1) nephew that he thought of as his

own, Amanda Fantroy, Lonita Fantroy, Demetria LeDet, Kathy Johnson and Michael Gafford; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mr. Roswell “Roosevelt” Bradley Sr.’s Homegoing Celebration will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at the Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, with Pastor Lonnie Bradley officiating. Open visitation will be held at 9:00am until the time of service. Interment will be in the Gilgal Baptist Church’s Cemetery. The arrangements have been entrusted to the Robinson Family Mortuary (Pineville).
