Funeral services for Nolan Alvin Sellers Jr. will be at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday,
January 14, 2023 at the Jackson Street Church of Christ. Minister Jesse Allen Jr.
will officiate. Visitation will be observed at Jackson Street Church of Christ, 1856
Jackson Street, Alexandria, on Saturday, January 14, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to
12:00 p.m. immediately preceding the funeral.
Nolan Alvin Sellers Jr. of Pineville, LA passed away on Friday, January 6, 2023, at
the age of 61. A loving father and brother, Nolan Jr. was born at Norton Air Force
Base, San Bernardino, CA and raised in Redlands, CA. Upon graduation from
Redlands High School in 1979, he attended Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa,
CA. Nolan Jr. worked many different vocations, but found his niché while working
as a Certified Nurses Aid at the Louisiana Special Education Center in Alexandria,
LA. There he formed a special bond with his clients and periodically returning to
visit and being received with open arms by his former co-workers and clients. He
loved listening to music and fishing. You could often find him tinkering with side
projects around his sister Tanya’s house or making jewelry for family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Nolan Alvin Sellers Sr. and Althea Ann
LeBlanc Sellers, both of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter; Catherine Ray Sander of
Phoenix, AZ; 3 sisters; Gwendolyn Faye Cage of Baton Rouge, LA, Bianca Séra
Brown (Tony), of Woodworth, LA and Tanya Danese Rogers of Pineville, LA; 3
nephews, Kenny Johnson of Baton Rouge, LA, Dravon Sellers of Pineville, LA,
Shayne Daney (Danielle) of Dallas, TX; 1 niece; Joyce Morris (Michael) of
Deville, LA; 3 great nephews Elias Sellers, André and Adrian Daney; 5 great
nieces Angelika Levy, Jade Sellers, Trinity, JáMayah and Michaela Morris; 1
great, great nephew Reyez Sellers; 1 uncle; Clarence Sellers (Gloria Dean), 3 aunts
Lula Mae Brown, Vivian Wilson, Ida Nell Sellers, Josie May Sellers and a host
cousins and wonderful friends.
The family would like to extend its gratitude to Cathy Mills and Sarah Zito for
their care and compassion as Nolan Jr’s caretakers for the past year. A special
thank you to CNA Felicia Johnson, who cared for our brother so lovingly until the
end. Thank you to the St. Frances Cabrini Hospital doctors, nurses, and staff for
their assistance during Nolan Jr’s final illness.
