On a crisp February day in 1939, in Colfax, Louisiana, Vera Fredieu and Theodore Billes, Jr. welcomed their beautiful baby girl, Nora Allean Billes. Raised by her grandparents, Geneva and Theodore Billes, Sr., she embraced her faith in Jesus Christ early on at Mt. Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Colfax. Nora graduated from

Mary E. Graham School in 1957 and continued her education at Grambling State University. At Mt. Pilgrim Rest, she was a committed member, serving as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, musician, and church secretary. Later, she joined St.

Mary African Methodist Episcopal Church in Colfax, where she continued her roles as a musician and church secretary. Mrs. Coutee dedicated 25 years of her career to Pinecrest State School before retiring. She was also an active member of the Farenzie

Cemetery Committee, where she meticulously managed all aspects of the cemetery, ensuring everything ran smoothly and maintaining a well-organized record of every plot.

Her vibrant Christian life and profound influence on the Colfax community will be cherished by all who knew her. On August 9, 2025, at the age of 86, Nora transitioned from her earthly tabernacle at Christus St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana. She was preceded in

death by her parents and four brothers: Jimmy, Oscar, Edward, and Ray White.

Mrs. Coutee’s remarkable life will always be remembered by her only daughter, Augel (Johnnie) Perry of Clarksville, Tennessee, along with many devoted family members

and friends.

Visitation will begin at 10:00a.m. at the church.
