Services for Sallie Rose Hatten Holly will be at 11:00a.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, 321 Willow Lake Rd, Jonesville, LA. Interment will be in Moss Grove Cemetery.
The incredible journey of Sallie Rose Hatten Holly began on November 17, 1949, in Jonesville, LA. She was the first of five children born to the union of Cleveland Hatten, Sr. and Martha Branch Hatten. Her remarkable journey came to a close on Friday, September 18, 2025, at her home.
Sallie Rose was a proud graduate of Jonesville Consolidated High School in 1968. She enjoyed her time in school with her classmates and was a member of the basketball team. After graduation, she moved to Alexandria, LA, where she worked for Chicken Poultry for many years. She also “served as a teacher with the Rapides Parish School Board.”
Sallie Rose loved her family and was always helping with her nieces, nephews, and other family members. She was known as “Momma Sallie” to them. She was a very loving and straightforward person who tried to help anyone. She enjoyed baking, gardening, and listening to “her’ music. She would always quote what her mother told her as a “Gul”. She had a special gift for bringing a smile to anyone’s face, no matter what the situation.
Sallie Rose was preceded in death by her parents: Cleveland and Martha Hatten, husband: John B. Holly, brother: Willie James Hatten, aunts: Lizzie Franklin, Gennie Bowman, Agnes Gullette, and Rachel Coster, uncles: Edward James Branch, Ton Branch, and Jake Branch, Sr., and godson: Malcolm Lee Branch.
Sallie Rose leaves a beautiful legacy and cherished memories with her four sons: Eli Price, III, Derrick Vaughn Price, Donald Dewayne Price, and Daryl Dewayne Price. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren: Tyris Price, Destynee Surgent, Destin Duncan, Ethan Price, Ragen Rose, Elijah Habor, Eymani Harbor, Dakayah Price, and Derrick Price, Jr. Her four great grandchildren are Destin, Ranee, Osiris, and Tayden.
Sallie Rose is also survived by her sister, Carolyn Sue (Melvin), brothers: Cleveland Hatten and Howard Hatten (Catherine), a special niece, Katrice Rosenthal, a special friend and cousin, Bobbie Nell Woods. Sallie Rose’s memory will also be cherished by many additional family members, friends, nieces, nephews, cousins, and classmates.
