Inez Spottsville Jamerson Spurlock committed herself to a life of service to God, service to the church, service to her family friends and service to her community. Inez was a woman of faith, believing in the power and strength of Jesus Christ’s Love and the beauty and peace that would await her after trading a her earthly life for eternity on June 30, 2023.

Inez was born to Foist and Inez Spottsville on July 19, 1935. Inez accepted Christ at an early age . She joined the Big Mount Zion Baptist Church and remained a faithful member until her death. Throughout her years at Big Mount Zion she served on the Women Mission Board, Deaconess Board she was member of the Senior choir and she served as the Church Secretary.

Inez was married to Howard Jamerson and from this union Sybil Jamerson was born. Howard and Sybil both proceeded her in death. Inez later married Jessie Spurlock which also proceeded her in death.

Inez graduated from Grant Parish Training School, upon graduation she attended The Historical Wiley college in Marshall , Texas. She graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Education. Inez was employed by Grant Parish Board of Education. She taught at J. W. Gaines there she had the pleasure of teaching her little cousin Wilbert Nelson and from this encounter the family/friend bond was sealed between them. She also taught at Montgomery High

School. Later she transferred to Rapides Parish School Board from which she retired.

In Addition to being a servant member to her church Inez was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and The Order of Eastern Star which she served as the Worthy Matron of Eastern Star Prospect Chapter #31 and District Deputy of District #3 . You could always find her car in the parking lot because she would proudly display both plates Delta Sigma Theta in the rear and OES plates on the front.

Inez was known to her immediate family as the mediator between her brothers and sisters , her in laws and cousins they would come to her and she would bring the calm.

Inez leaves to cherish her memories her Cousins, Nieces and Nephews and many close friends.

We will especially miss Inez for her infamous ability to ignore our phone calls.
