Mass of Christian Burial for Leontyne Joe Mimes Brown (Tina) will be at 11:00a.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 600 Lakeview Street, Pineville, LA. Reverend Walter Ajaero S.T. L., Pastoral Administrator will be officiating.
Leontyne Joe Mimes Brown (Tina) entered into this world on June 3rd, 1953 and would commence a blessed life filled with love, joy, exhilaration, and beauty in Pineville, LA. She was the sixth of ten children parented by S.T. and Lessie Crayton Mimes. She was baptized at an early age into Catholic faith at Our Lady of Sorrow Catholic Church, Pineville, LA. On December 21, 1974, she was united in matrimony to Johnnie Lee Brown.
Leontyne Joe Mimes Brown (Tina) was a warm, loving, and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a loyal friend who was truly committed to those she loved and with whom she made a lifelong connection and most of all a loving/caring Nurse. She was employed and retired as a nurse at Central Louisiana State Hospital and other states/counties for over 30 plus years.
Tina, as she was well known by, inspired and influenced a large segment of people in both the military community and the community of Pineville, LA. Her enthusiasm for life reached all of those with whom she made contact. She loved her New Orleans Saints. She will be missed deeply by all of those who were touched by her warmth and Love.
Her faith in God remained strong and forever true at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Pineville, LA.
On October 24, 2020 at the age of 67, her life ended at her residence and a new and glorious life began with Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son: Christopher Jamie Mimes, brother: Michael Owen Mimes, sister: Irma Mimes Hayes, and niece Nakiaya Stanai Alexander, all of Pineville, LA.
Leontyne Joe Mimes Brown (Tina) departs this world and leaves her memories with her husband, Johnnie Lee Brown, Sr., sons, Cedrick Neil Mimes of Pineville, LA, Tristan Corey Brown (Sarah) of Clarksville, TN, and Johnnie Lee Brown, Jr., (Mima), of Camp Zama, Japan; grandchildren, Christina Janae Mimes, Christianna Jolee Mimes, both of Pineville, LA; Donovan, Avery, and Natalie Brown, all of Clarksville, TN; Michael Coslett of Las Vegas, NV; Dorian Gardner of Baton Rouge, LA, brothers, S.T. Mimes (Brenda) and Kenneth Mimes of Pineville, LA; sisters, Gwendolyn Glasper, Edna Clark (Michael), Christal Moore (Terry), Mary Alexander (Terry), all of Pineville, LA, Jackie Berry (Talton) of Houston, TX, godson, Dimintri Glasper (Tracy) of Angier, NC; a wonderful caregiver and friend Levoyce “Blue” Taylor. She also leaves behind a large segment of nephews and nieces.
