Services for Pursie Boswell will be at 11:00a.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at St. Juliana Catholic Church, 900 Daspit Street, Alexandria, LA.
Viewing will begin at 9:00a.m. with Rosary following at 10:00a.m. Father Vincent Manuel will be officiating.
Interment will be in Roadview Cemetery, Lena, LA.
Mr. Boswell, 82, of Pineville, LA, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at his residence.
Pursie Boswell was born on March 2, 1938 in Taylor Hill, LA to the proud parents of George & Estella Boswell.
He was the 11th of 12 children born to their union and grew up in a loving home. His father was a Baptist Minister who instilled in him the love he had for Christ Jesus. Pursie was baptized at an early age and later converted to Catholicism.
Pursie attended schools in Compton, CA and Boyce, LA where he graduated from A. Wettermark High School in May 1956. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. After his military service, he returned home to be reunited with his family.
Pursie began a career at Sears as a delivery driver and was eventually promoted to Manager of the Hardware Department. During this time, he met the love of his life Emily Wiggins in 1961 and they were married on December 29, 1962.
From their union 5 children were born – Reginald, Michelle, Rodney, Kim, and Jeffery.
Pursie was a hard worker and always provided for his family in many ways. He dedicated his life guiding his family and teaching his children to live a life of righteousness. He was always engaged in activities with his family and teaching them skills and life lessons.
Pursie was a loving husband, loving father, innovator, entrepreneur, home building/handyman/contractor, visionary, advisor, leader, advocate, loyal friend, spiritual advisor, and an inspiration to many people.
Pursie was an active member of St. Juliana Catholic Church in Alexandria, LA until the time of his illness in which he served in various capacities such as Eucharist Minister, Parish Council President and Maintenance Supervisor.
He is preceded in death by his parents: George & Estella Boswell; 4 sisters: Katherine Copeland, Mercedes Freeny, Cora Lee Boswell & Bennie Ruth Miott; 6 brothers: Willie, Leon, Lloyd, Lawrence, John D, & Jazz Boswell.
Pursie leaves to cherish his legacy to his wife of 58 years Emily Boswell, 5 children – Reginald (Emma) Boswell of Weatherford, TX; Michelle (Van) Hornbuckle of Arlington, TX; Rodney Boswell of Fort Worth, TX; Kim Boswell of Pineville, LA & Jeffery Boswell of Fort Worth, TX; 1 sister – Theoplise Sudduth of Compton, CA; 1 sister in law- Arthemise Greenhouse of Los Angeles, CA; 10 grandchildren – Jyron, Emily Corine (Petra), Letia, Gabriel, Lily (Chris), Mia, Reginald, Jr., Ashleigh, Joshua, & Jeffery, Jr.(JJ), 1 great granddaughter – Carson Elizabeth, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Poppee…..You will be missed greatly but your legacy will always live on in our hearts and lives.
