Services for Elvin Watkins will be at 1:00p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2020 at Raven Camp Cemetery, Colfax, LA. Rev. Roosevelt Lair will be officiating.


Mr. Watkins, 86, of Colfax, LA, passed away on August 3, 2020 at CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital. Elvin was baptized at an early age. He served faithfully at Big Mount Zion Baptist church of Colfax, LA. As a Deacon member of Choir and a Sunday School Attendant. He also was the President of the Sing Convention, served as the Chaplin of M W Prince Hall Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Masons Of Louisiana, Light Of Day Lodge #124, Colfax, LA.


Elvin is preceded in death by his wife: Nettie Mae Watkins, parents: Eugene and Cora Watkins brothers: Handy, Roosevelt, Ameal, and Rev. Otha Watkins, sisters: Clara Williams, Lillian Sykes, Irene Swafford, and Harriet Loyd.


Elvin leaves to cherish his memories: daughters: Sholda Cooper (Christopher), Cassandra Dozier (Kevin Roy), son: Elvin (Donnie) Watkins (Virginia), special daughters: Karen Layton (James) and Tiffany Boyd, sister: Veola W. Loyd, along with 9 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.


Elvin Watkins was very devoted to his family especially his grandkids and great grandkids, church, and the elders in his community. He love to fish, garden, and read the bible.
