James Jamar Barfield

James Jamar Barfield was born on June 26, 1990, in Pineville, Louisiana, to Geraldine Williams (nee Barfield) and James Mitchell Jr. On October 31, 2024, he was called home to be with the Lord.
James joined Beulah Baptist Church at an early age and was baptized by Reverend Hall. His membership was later moved to Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church.
He attended Carter C. Raymond, where he discovered his love for basketball. James graduated from Rapides High School, where he won a state championship in basketball. After high school, he went on to attend Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Following college, James worked for Target and Procter & Gamble through ManPower. In early October, he resigned from his position with the Town of Lecompte to move to North Carolina.
James was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James Sr. and Ruby Mitchell; his maternal grandparents, Ivory Ruth and Johnny Green Sr.; and his Aunt Denise Williams.
James leaves to cherish his memory his beautiful daughters, Heaven Ja’Meriah Skye Barfield and Journee Janise Barfield; his parents, Geraldine and Edward Williams, and James Jr. and Mechelle Mitchell; and the love of his life, his girlfriend, Morgan K. Willis. His uncles, Gerald Mitchell, Edward Lee, Jonnie Green (Tina), Bradford Green, Rufus Green (Micalissa), and Hayward Barfield (Tonya), and his godparents, Carolyn and Samuel Williams, also mourn his passing. His aunts, Hazel Thompson, Gracie Sams, and Ruby Hardy, also remember him with love.
James’s memory will live on in his siblings: Rickey Barnes (Lekiesha), Darnell Barfield, Alainia Williams, Jameisha Williams (Robert), Jamey Mitchell (Jonisha), Edward Williams Jr. (Trinese), Pastor Patrick Williams Sr. (Lashonda), Wilbert L. Williams, Kendrick Perry, and Darius Perry; as well as Annette Griffin (James), Fannie Mae Carr (George), Edna Perry (Eric), Tiffany Conaler (Michael), Erika Perry, and best friend Kelvin Chisem. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends will remember him with love.
