Sis. Vernestine Hammond died on February 17, 2021 at home with her loving
family. She was born to the late Reverend and Mrs. Arthur Coleman on February
8, 1938. She was baptized at New Morning Glory Baptist Church in Ruby,
Louisiana at an early age by her father Reverend Arthur Coleman. She was a
devoted member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of
Rev. Roger Green. She thoroughly enjoyed preparing lessons for her Sunday
School class and sharing God's word with such wonderful Christian believers.
She was married to Isaac Hammond who preceded her in death.To that union, two
children were born, one daughter Zanita Hammond-Reed and one son Rev. Isaac
Hammond, Jr (Valencia).
Vernestine leaves to treasure her memory two grandchildren, Rodriick and Maya
Reed, two Sisters Barbara Young, Grambling, LA and Joyce Williams (Frank),
Alexandria, LA one Niece and three Nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 1:00pm at Mt. Zion
Missionary Baptist Church, 1116 Day St, Alexandria, LA 71301.
