Services For Walter Gilmore will be at 11am (viewing at 10am) on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ross Ford officiating. Burial will be in Edgefield Cemetery in Cheneyville, La under the direction of Robinson Mortuary.

Mr. Walter Gilmore, Age 87 of Lecompte, Louisiana died at ____ on Sunday, February 21, 2021, at Matthews Memorial Health Care in Alexandria, La.

He was a longtime resident of Lecompte, who worked primarily farming and liked to hunt and fish in his earlier years. He was willing to help anyone in the neighborhood and knew no strangers. He was a big man with a big smile and a heavy voice that in later years could be found sitting on his front porch watching and speaking to people that passed by. He loved watching westerns and it tickled him to pieces when saying “See you later ‘gator”.

Preceded in death by parents, Peter and Judy Gilmore; sisters Bert, Joanne, and Clara; brother Charlie Gilmore, and son Walter Gilmore Jr.

Survived by Ella Mae Johnson-Gilmore, son Peter(Sarita) Gilmore of Houston, TX; daughters Mary Ann (Kent) Bowie of Lecompte, LA, and Louise Jones of Houston, TX, 7 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild; sister Virginia Jason and brother Jesse Gilmore, both of Houston, TX.
