Aljay Cox, Sr. entered into new life with our Lord & Savior on July 8, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was united in marriage to Mary Lee on June 13, 1954. They were blessed with 62 years of marriage before her transitioning on January 2016 but between this union, there are seven children: Marilyn, Vivian, Vernon, Sandra, Aljay, Jr., Elivia, and LaShawn and mom’s nephew, Jerome Gross that grew up with the family as well. He was a devoted husband, provider for his family, servant of God and a good Samaritan in the community. All that knew him was blessed to have him in their life as a father figure, mentor, and a friend.
He leaves to cherish his memory his siblings, Johnnie Gibson and Grace Taylor, his sons, Vernon Leon Cox and Aljay Cox, Jr. (Mary); his daughters, Marilyn Ann Cox-Thompson, Vivian Cox-Kahey, Sandra Cox-White, Elivia Hardison (Michael) and LaShawn-Cox Jefferson (Donnell); grandchildren: Titus Thompson, Maurice Thompson, Quinten White, Alvin White, Jr, Jessica White, Richard Cox, Aljay Cox, III, Atiner Stills, Lydia Sowell (Earley Holmes, III), Kendrick Cox, Daisha Cox and NaiEmah Wiley and a hosts of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Also, Aljay was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Bessie Cox, brothers, Alfonse Cox, LC Cox, his sister, Daisy Mitchell and his wife, Mary Lee Cox and his grandsons, Quinten White and Devonte Hardison.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at Agape Love Church, 1515 Texas St, Natchitoches, Louisiana 71457 on Saturday, July 14, 2018, visitation will be held from 9:00 am - 11:00 am and funeral services will begin at 11:00 am Officiating, Bishop William Roberson. Interment: Breda Town Cemetery, Natchitoches, La.
